“The placenta is an amazing thing”
When I first met Tammi, my only thought about the placenta was how we were supposed to dispose of it after a homebirth. However, after Tammi and I discussed the benefits of placenta ingestion I decided to take a leap of faith and give it a try. After the birth of my first child, I had some mild baby blues. However, after the birth of my second child I ingested my placenta and had a wonderful experience. I healed extremely quickly — people commented that it was like I had not just given birth! — and my milk supply was great. But, best of all, I just felt fantastic. I felt really positive and happy, and had energy like I’d never had before (which was great to help me cope with being up with the baby in the wee hours of the night and go straight into playing with my energetic 3 year old son all day).
I ingested my placenta raw in a smoothie, and really could not tell it was there at all. 🙂
Apparently, I had a large placenta and I still have some frozen in my freezer. When I got really sick I made myself some smoothies and got better quickly; when the kids don’t sleep sometimes I have a smoothie in the morning to help me get through the day. I’m so glad I made that leap of faith – the placenta is an amazing thing – *definitely* not something to just be thrown away!!!
